Just Some Cute Pics....

Enjoying holding my baby!
When we can't find Savannah, she has usually disappeared to her room to play "Dora."
She loves being outside....
...and between her and the dogs, there are always holes dug everywhere!

Such a beautiful day...

The past two days have been absolutely gorgeous!  After the dreadfully hot and miserable summer, we finally got some relief!  For the past two days I haven't used the air in my car and just had the windows down to enjoy the nice cool air!!

This morning Savannah's school had a little field trip to the St. Mary's fire station.  While I was a little disappointed in Savannah's lack of listening while we were there, she was pretty cute playing in the fire truck.  I have a few pics I will post later.

After the field trip we went to the park with Mary and Claire.  This was our first time to go to the park in a few months and it was wonderful!! Savannah and Claire ran around like little wild children and had a blast climbing and sliding!

I really hope this nice weather keeps up because I would much rather be outside playing with Savannah then cooped up inside running the air conditioning wide open!  =)

Up way too early!!

Well, so much for having the garage sale again this morning, the weather is just not cooperating!  It's crappy because now I have to wait about 3 more weeks to try again and my garage is going to be full until then, plus I was really looking forward to more money!  Oh well, in another 3 weeks there is no telling what else I will find around the house to sell!!

What the hell is wrong with people!!??

Seriously...I can not stand when I see people tailgating other people or myself on a road where the speed limit is 25 and there are twists and curves!!!  Here in the lakes people are so freaking stupid when it comes to driving on Charles Gilman Blvd!  I can't tell you the amount of times I have seen people pass someone (on a 2 lane street) who they thought was driving too slow and then the moment they get back into their lane, make a sharp left into the welfare office..I guess some people are in such a damn hurry to get their money that they don't mind putting other people in jeopardy!!  Damn people, just calm the F*** down!!  I am a total speed limit nazi when it comes to driving on that road and if someone is riding my ass I slow down to 20 just to piss them off.  A**holes!!

*Ok I'm done*

Cartoons

*  Has Sesame Street always sucked as bad as it does now?  We have caught it a few times and Savannah has absolutely no interest in watching it and from the little bits that I saw I don't blame her.  What a crappy show.

*  Savannah is ADDICTED to Super Why!  The first thing she says when she comes out of her room in the morning is why, why, why!!  If she is watching another show she will ask for "why!"  Now I know some people are against letting their children watch TV but let me tell you, Savannah has learned so much from this super cute cartoon show!  She spells right along with them, makes sounds of the letters and totally interacts with them..it's really cute!

*  Another one of Savannah's favorite TV shows is Word World!  And I have to admit, even I like that one!  It is so cute!  I love to see what the words are going to turn into!  I am a dork, I realize this, but this is another one of the shows that Savannah has picked up a lot from!

*  Super Why and Word World are so much more tolerable than say, Little Einsteins...or the Doodlebops!!  God both of those shows drive me nuts and I am very glad Savannah doesn't care to watch them anymore!  We are currently DVRing multiple episodes of WW and SW so they can be burned on a disk for when I make my december journey to see family...it is going to save my life I am sure!!  =)

Catching up...

*  Sunday was Bridget's 25th birthday!  My little girl is growing up!!  :sniff sniff:  We spent Saturday night at their apartment grilling and hanging out.  One hilarious movie and way too much to drink for Shawn later, we headed home.  It was a :ahem: interesting night...'nuff said.

*  Savannah totally skipped her nap today.  I put her in her room about 1:30 or so and by 3, when I realized she had pulled her dora dress up box over to the light switch so she could turn it on and off and on and off and on and off, and you get the point, I decided to just let her out because I didn't want her falling asleep and not getting up until 5 or 6.  She was really good considering the no nap.  Now, don't get me wrong, this will not become a daily thing.  She still needs nap and I still need an hour or 2 to get stuff done without her around!  I hope this was just a one time thing!

*  Shawn and I have been very good about going on a bike ride a few days a week.  Well I say bike ride, I actually ride my hand bike (will post a picture soon) and Shawn jogs with Savannah in the jogging stroller.  Tonight was our best ride yet.  I am very proud of the both of us.  Shawn went 2.1 miles and I went a little bit further with 2.3 miles!  It had rained right before we left so it had cooled off a little which helped.  I think we are just actually getting into shape and hopefully we can continue to lengthen our rides!   The way people react when they see me go by is pretty funny.  Little kids are all "wow look at that bike...COOL!"  Adults smile and watch me go by wondering what is wrong with me I am sure, but our neighborhood is so nice and I love watching peoples reactions as I roll on by!

*  You know you do too many myspace survey's when you are half way though and realize that you have already done that one before...lol!

*  I love Shawn so much.  I love that we can be totally and completely normal around each other.  I love that we laugh at each other and with each other all the time.  I love how much we love just spending time together whether it be just the two of us or as a family.  I love how good Shawn is with Savannah and how willing he is to do anything and everything for her.  I love how we can talk about anything and everything and have the same views on most things.  I love how Shawn puts up with my stubborn, dramatic side.  I just really love my husband!!

Feeding the "Raffs"

This is the first movie I have uploaded to blogger so hopefully it works.  Savannah was so darn cute feeding the giraffe at the zoo!

In the early hours of the morning, found me at Harris Methodist Ft. Worth Emergency Room.  Someone made the fatal mistake of thinking they could drive me home after a night of drinking and bar hopping.  My life forever changed that night.  I spent about a week in a medically induced coma in the ICU.  My head, thank god, only had cuts and scrapes, though some were pretty severe.  My left hand was fractured in a few places and I wore oh so comfy rods in them for a few weeks.  I fractured a few ribs and I remember having this strange rattling sensation when I breathed and although it didn't hurt, it was very strange.  Back tracking just a bit, the truck I was in went over an overpass and rolled a few times before my seat belt broke and I was thrown from the truck.  As best anyone can tell, I actually landed smack on my butt which caused my spine to compress at L1.  The bone broke and sent little shards into my spinal cord, thus partially paralyzing me for life.

It is strange to think it has been 6 years since this life altering even happened to me.  I have come so far since then.  People who meet me, or even just family and friends will say things like "I don't know how you do it, I couldn't."  Well no one knows what they can do until they are forced and have no choice.  It's not like I used to be all "If I was in a wheelchair I would do great!"  The thought never even entered my mind because "nothing like that would ever happen to me."  Well it did and although it really sucks some days, I am very proud of myself in all that I have over come.  I have turned the worst case scenario into the best that it can be.

I want to let all of my family who was there for me during, what I can only imagine was terrifying hours and days, waiting to see if I would make it or not, how much I love and appreciate all of you.

Less than 2 years after becoming wheelchair bound, I met someone who on our very first date knew instantly that he would be the man I would marry.  We hit it off right away and he was so awesome and could of cared less that I was in a wheelchair.  After dating for 3 months he asked me to marry him and a month later we were married!  A little after 2 years of marriage I gave birth to our wonderful daughter.  She has made everything I went through worth it.

So, despite not being able to walk, I am very happy and very lucky to have such a great family.  In another year I will be posting about how it has been 7 years, then 8..9..10..and so on for a very long time, I hope!  I left the hospital knowing I would never walk again and oddly enough, I don't remember ever actually being upset about it.  It was something that happened and I just needed to focus on how to make the best of a shitty situation, and I think I did a fabulous job!! =)
