More Bows...

The pictures aren't the greatest but you get the idea...

Recent Projects...

I have recently (within the past year) gotten into making hair bows.  It started out because I wouldn't pay the outrageous price that boutiques charge for them, but I wanted cute little bows for Savannah's hair!  Well, once I made a few I realized how easy it was!  I can't take all the credit because Mary has helped me out a lot in showing me a few things in the "Crafts" department!!  Mary and I are going to have a booth at the Rock Shrimp Festival which is at the beg. of October I believe.  We will be selling more hair bows than we know what to do with, as well as Luvies, Blankets, Cart Covers, Burp Cloths, and quite a few other things.  We have also opened an online shop and as soon as we get some of our items up on there I will post the link.  We are very excited about this because it is something we both have a lot of fun doing and we look forward to being able to share our creations with everyone!  (If you see anything you are interest in as I post a few more things, please don't hesitate to contact me!!)

Trip to the Zoo....

Saturday morning found us up and at the zoo by 9am!  We told Savannah the night before that we were going to go to the zoo tomorrow and she couldn't stop talking about the "raffs(giraffes), hands (elephants...don't ask) and wions (lions)!"  She continued all morning and on the ride up there, it was cute to see her so excited to go see the "amimoles" (animals!).

This is the face she makes every time I ask her to look at the camera because every time I do she says "cheese!"
I love this picture because her eyes are so bright and beautiful!
Watching the giant anteater

Zoo splash grounds...

Last time we went to the zoo Savannah didn't get to play in the splash grounds because she was too tired and there were way too many kids, but this time daddy took her out there and stayed with her for a long while and let her climb and play.  She had a great time!

Zoo Cont....

watching the "fishes"
She had to wear sunglasses like mommy and daddy

She really liked the "hands"

More Little People...

These little people have got to be the best thing we have ever gotten Savannah.  The amount of time she will sit and play is unbelievable!  I sat and watched her play without her knowing and it was so cute.  In these first 2 pictures she is putting the alligator "night night!" *notice how she turned it upside down to put it to sleep on it's back....too cute!!

What a load of crap!

I love my husband to death, but seriously!?  There is no way she looks like both of us equally!  She is the spitting image of ME!!  lol!  Shawn and I both busted up laughing when it came up with this because we both know that she looks more like me.  I hear it all the time from anyone and everyone!  Maybe it's just these certain pictures...who knows!!?  Too funny.  =)

The past few days.....

*  Tropical Storm Fay had made it very difficult to go out and do anything over the past few days.  It has been raining almost non stop and the wind gusts are incredible.  I have not left the house in 2 1/2 days and usually that would make me go insane, but Shawn has had the flexibility with work to go in later and get off earlier which has been wonderful!!  He has been so great over the past few days.  I have not felt great at all and having him around has allowed me to relax and have some "poor me, I don't feel good" time!   Our afternoon and evenings are filled with fun around the house.  After Savannah's nap we have had a lot of family play time with Savannah.  We have played so much "little people farm" "dora castle" and dress up!  Shawn and Savannah have run around the house so much I am surprised there is not a rut dug in the floor!  We have definitely made the best of this icky weather we are having!

*  Savannah has finally learned how to give actually kisses!   She has gone through so many kissing phases from opening her mouth real big and letting you kiss her, to presenting you her cheek and letting you kiss her, to now her actually putting her lips on your cheek and kissing!!  It is so cute!  She will give one of us a kiss and then say "more kisses" and kiss us again!!  She is so sweet!  =)

*  This is def. the wrong time of the month for me to listen to Carry Underwoods new single that she has out "This must be a dream".  I heard it in the car the other day and thought the song was going to go one way, and when I realized what she was singing about I totally broke down and had tears streaming down my face!  Yesterday I saw the music video and got all choked up again!  What a powerful song!  There have been quite a few military songs that have brought a tear to my eye, but this one is by far the most emotional.

*  Savannah has successfully counted to 5 twice on her own!  We were reading one of her books before bedtime and it asked to count how many snakes there were in the picture.  I asked Savannah to count the snakes and usually I will say "one" and she will copy and say "one" and so on, well last night she surprised me by pointing and saying "one" and I copied, then "two" and again I copied, all the way up to 5, which was exactly how many snakes were in the picture!!  I was really shocked that she did it on her own!!  She did it again this morning with her Pooh puzzle.  I asked her how many pieces there were and she counting them up to 5, which again was how many pieces there were!  It is so wonderful to hear her count!!  It is so exciting watching her learn, every new things she says or does just melts my heart!!!  =)

Dress up....

Just a cute picture of Savannah playing with her dress up hat. =)

They don't just play on the computer together...

There is just something about this pictures that melts my heart!  She may be the spitting image of me, but I am seeing more and more of Shawn come out in her!  Books, Computers, and now the Wii!  She was thoroughly enjoying playing Mario Kart with her daddy!

Savannah at school...

Finally remembered my camera and got a picture of Savannah at school!
Giving mommy hugs before we leave!!  =)

Her latest obsession...

For the past few weeks Savannah has been obsessed with her little people farm, all the animals and fencing that came with it.  Almost everyday she drags all of the pieces out and creates her own farm.  It is really neat to sit and watch her carefully place each piece of fence where she wants it and connect other random pieces into the mix.  After she had created her masterpiece she is really proud to show it off and then we sit and play "little people farm" for a bit!

The girls are so cute!!!

Savannah playing around in her dora dress up clothes!
Claire and Savannah were so darn cute running around all dressed up!
Savannah decided it would be fun to jump off her bed and have Elise catch her...crazy girl!
All 3 girlies vegging out before bed!

Pictures....

Shawn was having a bowl of cereal the other day and Savannah came over to him and said "bite."  So he gave her a bite and she was like "yum, yum, yum!"  So he made her a small bowl of cereal with milk and she ate the entire thing!  This is a first for her!  I have given her cereal but usually just dry so now we have upgraded to cereal with milk!  She does really well with it!

Bath time!

I don't know what exactly he was doing but she was just cracking up!

Computer GEEKS!!!

Savannah has taken an interest in the computer and LOVES when Shawn sits down with her and goes onto the playhouse disney web site and plays the games.  They did this for about half an hour and Savannah really enjoyed it!

A Turtle...

The other day a storm hit pretty fast and pretty hard, well me being as paranoid as I am, I was kinda freaking out.  I opened the front door and watched the weather for a few min and out of the corner of my eye I saw something move.  It was this itty bitty turtle climbing onto the front porch.  He was so cute!  If I could of gotten to him I mighta kept him!  Ok not really, but I wish Savannah hadn't been napping and coulda seen him (or her) because she loves turtles and frogs!!

Busy Monday....

*  I love Shawn's PNEO schedule!  He was able to go with me this morning to drop Savannah off at school.  It was nice having him around this morning to help me get Savannah ready and out the door in time...I always tend to run late no matter how much time I give myself!

*  I have been very productive and made 2 of the important phone calls I needed to make already this morning.  Of course, one of these phone calls could of been done a month or two ago, but I am a bit of a procrastinator and wait until the last possible minute to do things.  (It drives Shawn crazy!!  lol)

*  We are going to Jacksonville today to look at some furniture stores and see if they have anything better than the crap that we have seen recently.  We desperately need new bedroom furniture because ours consist of a hodge podge of stuff we have either refinished because we got it for cheap, or purchased on a whim because we needed it right then!  A few of the furniture stores are running some very good zero percent financing and no payments until 2010 so we are going to go see what we can find.  We are half way considering going down to a queen bed because we have brand new queen mattresses in our guest room and I am wanting to turn the guest room into a play room for Savannah which would mean we have no where to put the mattresses.  I don't know if I am wild about going from a king to a queen but we will see.

*  We have decided to hold off on purchasing a new vehicle at this time.  Shawn has a few things on his mind and has made the decision to wait until after his next deployment to get a new car.  Hopefully the truck will last until then.

*  I have been sewing a lot here recently and I am loving it!!  I am sewing baby items and they are coming out so stinkin' cute!  I have also been making hair bows like they are going outa style!!  I have well over a hundred and there is no end in sight considering the amount of ribbon I have.  Shawn has been so good with my current craft projects, he knows how much I enjoy this and even helps me out if I need it...like cutting a crap load of fabric in one evening that way I can sew all week!!  =)

*  I finally broke down and we bought a grill this weekend.  It's not fancy or anything but the chicken and burgers that we grilled on Saturday turned out awesome!  I was watching Claire and Elise so Mary and Justin could go out on a date and we also had Pat and Bridget over for dinner and a game night.  It was fun!  Hopefully I can talk Shawn into grilling me some shrimp and veggies next weekend!! YUM!!

Just me and Shawn

Well, it has been a few weeks since Shawn and I have gotten to spend the better part of a day together with out Savannah, but today we did.  We dropped Savannah off at Mary's house before nap time and headed down to River City's to eat lunch and watch a movie.  We ate at Salsarita's again, that's the second time this week!!   I have been craving mexican food for some strange reason...anyone who is thinking the "P" word can kiss my ass!! I am not pregnant!!  (Shawn made sure to ask me...dork!)  Anyways..after a yummy lunch we went over to the movie theatre and watched Hancock.  I enjoyed it and thought it was worth seeing in the theatre!  There was some great action and a cool twist I didn't see coming!

After the move we went to Best Buy, because Shawn had to get his fix, even thought we did what we almost always do, and that is go in, walk around, leave with nothing!!  My checking account and credit card like those kinds of visits though!  We headed to Target to waste some more money and then headed back home.  After laying around the house for a bit we went up to lowes and Shawn bought a grill.  Nothing fancy, just big enough to cook some chicken, steak, burgers, veggies and crap like that.  We also found some of the lighting we had been looking at for a long time that costs about $30 a pop on clearance for $3!!  We were able to get 4 pieces of tract lighting for less than 15 bucks!!  Talk about a deal!!

For dinner we went to The Sweetest Things and got coffee and split a piece of cheesecake (OMG it was good!) and then headed over to Mary's to pick up the zooza butt!  (Yeah I have all kindsa silly random names that I call Savannah...that's an entirely different post!)

Over all it was nice to get to go out just Shawn and I.  We really enjoy and appreciate the times that we get to spend with just each other!  =)

Pretty good day...

* Savannah's second day of school went pretty good.  I dropped her off and she went and sat right in her seat and began coloring.  I gave her hugs and kisses and told her to have a good day at school and left.  I came home and took a shower, ate a little bit, blow dried my hair, and left at 10 till 11 to take the dogs to their vet appointment at 11:15.  Both dogs have had horrible allergies and have been itching like crazy the past few days.  Well let me tell you it took almost an HOUR to get through my appointment!!  I was so freakin pissed!! I said that I had to pick my daughter up at noon and if I am late I will get charged a fee.  This did not make them hurry in the least and I was pretty irritated by the end.  Although, my bill was only $15 and that includes the office visit and 3 medications for the dogs...you really can not beat that price!!  I had to call Mary and ask her to pick Savannah up and I met them in the parking lot.  I was really looking forward to going in and seeing her after school today!! I actually remembered my camera and was going to take some pictures.  So much for that!!  Oh well, I will remember on monday hopefully!

*  My cousin, Jamie, had a baby girl yesterday and I am so happy for her!! Nolagrace Marie was born healthy and with a head full of hair!  I can't wait to go to MS in December and meet her!!

*  I know I have posted about how much trouble I have with Savannah when it comes to meal times.  Well, today was great!!  She had breakfast, a snack at school, ate a good lunch before nap, had a small snack after her nap, and ate a really good dinner!!  I have started a new routine and started being more aware about her eating habits and hopefully it will continue to pay off!

*  Savannah has been very into having me kiss her "boo boo's."  I don't, for the life of me, know how or when this got started.  I have never been the kind of mom who freaks out over every little fall or "ouchie."  I am (as bad as this may sound) kinda tough on her.  I always say (unless it really is serious) "oh you are fine" and don't really baby her about things like that.  So why she feels the need to have me kiss every little oddity on her is really strange....but very cute at the same time!  She will, in turn, find a freckle or small spot on me and say "oh no" and kiss it for me.  I actually love that!!  But when I am in the middle of cooking and she realizes there is something (who knows what) on her toes and needs me to kiss it to make it better it can be a little annoying!!  =)

* One last thing, we are currently in the market for a car and let me tell you I feel like I want to pull my hair out!!!  I don't think Shawn knows what he wants and he keeps talking to me about this car and that car and I can't keep them straight.  All I know is that I am so not thrilled with the idea of having another car payment!!!

Savannah has started school!!

For a while now I have said that when Savannah is 2 years old I would like to get her into some sort of 2 -3 times a week school for a few hours.  I thought she would really enjoy it and I sure as hell could use a little bit of time to do things alone!  Well Friday Mary called me asking for the phone number to Bright Beginnings and said she was going to enroll Claire if they had room, I told her to get the information and let me know because I might be interested in signing Savannah up.  She called me back and said that they had a few openings but we needed to go in early Monday morning to register them.

Monday morning rolls around and we are up and out the door at about 8:20 headed to pick up Mary to go to School.  We talked and decided that we would just go register them but not leave them.  Well all that changed when I came out of the restroom and they were in the class room meeting their teachers and already playing and having a blast in the 5 min they were there!  I looked at Mary and said "I am so leaving Savannah today!"  She decided to leave Claire also which was awesome because we got to do our Walmart trip and lunch ALONE!!!  It was freakin fabulous!!

The girls, in turn, did so well on their first day of school!  Savannah came home with an art project and a name bracelet that they had made.  There was no crying (from any of the kids) and no accidents!  I am so proud of Savannah, and myself for actually going through with leaving her, and I can't wait for her 2nd day of school tomorrow!!

Savannah is going Monday and Wednesday from 9 to 12.  That gives me 3 hours twice a week to catch up on all the things I need to do that are a hell of a lot easier with out her...like my doctor visits, dental exams, and eye exams that are way, way, way over due!

I am so happy and yet a little sad at the same time that Savannah is in school.  My baby is growing up and I can't believe how fast it is going!  I know this is a great thing for her and I couldn't be more excited!!  =)

Randoms....

*  So, after a year of Savannah being on whole organic milk, I have recently switched her to regular 2%.  She didn't even seem to notice the difference and has done great.  She does not have a problem putting on or keeping up her weight so 2% it is!

*  We went to a birthday party of one of Savannah's little friends last night at Mc Donalds!  Caleb turned 2 yesterday and had a very cute dinosaur themed party.  It was a lot of fun and the kids got to run around like crazy while the adults chit chatted!  It was fun!

*  Savannah's vocabulary is exploding!  I can't even begin to list all the words she can say but now she is starting to form 2 and 3 words together!  It is so much fun listening to her talk.   She is just so darn cute!  She will say either thank you or thanks when appropriate without being prompted to do so!  I was about floored when she said it to me after I have her something!!  She will also say please when she wants something.  I love it!!

*  With Shawn being in PNEO for the next 10-12 weeks, his schedule is going to be a bit more flexible than usual.  Yesterday he got to leave and come and join Savannah and I at tumbling!  It was great because I have been going with her for a little while now and he has never been.  Shawn misses so much while he is out to sea, I am excited when he can join us for little things like this.  We start Water Babies class next week for 3 weeks and Shawn should be able to make a class or 2 which will be a lot of fun!

*  This weekend is gong to be spent doing projects around the house.  We have quite a few "finishing" details that need to be done, but aren't quite as fun because you don't get the instant gratification with little things like that like you do with let's say....an entire kitchen remodel!!  But one way or another the baseboards need to be sanded and painted, transition pieces need to be put down, the family room needs to be painted and on and on.  I have been extremely ants about getting this stuff done so hopefully I can keep Shawn on track long enough to knock 'em out!

*  Shawn and I are going back and forth about what to do with our countertops.  We seriously can't decide between granite and silestone/quartz!!  The price difference isn't much but we still can't decide.  We were going to get our countertops ordered but unforeseen expenses came up so we are going to have to wait until either closer to Christmas or after Shawn gets back from his next patrol.

*  Although I am always very sad when Shawn goes out to sea, this next patrol I already have a bunch of traveling planned!  I very excited to go to Mississippi and see my grandparents, cousins, and most of all, my cousin Jamie's baby girl!!  She is due in less than 2 weeks and I wish her all the best with her delivery!  After I visit all of them for who knows how long, I am heading up to Tennessee to visit my wonderful sister in law and her fabulous kids!!  I have never actually met Kelly even though we have been "best friends" ever since she picked up the phone and called me when she found out I was pregnant.  We talk, laugh, bitch, complain, and help each other out all the time!  I am so freakin excited to go there and meet her and see my nieces and nephew and spoil the crap out of them while I am there!!  I also can't wait for Savannah to meet her cousins and get to know them!!  Its strange to love a family so much you have never actually met!!  After a visit with them, for again, who knows how long, I am going to drive up to St. Louis to visit Shawn's family!  Even though his parents just saw Savannah, I know they want to see her again as do the rest of his family so we will go up there and visit for a little while.  I will probably drive back to Kelly's house after St. Louis and head to Dallas from there where I plan on spending the majority of my time!  The neat thing is that I am on no time schedule and can spend as much or little time in any one place as I want!  It is going to be interesting traveling all of these places just Savannah and I but I am very confident that I can do it!

*  Savannah is asking for "fwaffles" so I gotta go and fix em for her.  =) (and yes..it's "fwaffles")

Our Weekend Get Away...

For those of you who don't know, Shawn is now back from his 3rd official sub patrol.  He got back at the beginning of last week and Thursday morning we packed up the van and drove to Atlanta, GA.  Well, we made a pit stop about an hour outside of our hotel because there were some pretty great outlets and I was able to get Savannah quite a bit of clothes for a really great price!!  It's really a good thing that there aren't outlets that close to me, I tend to go a little crazy when I see good prices!  Thursday was a very long day with all the driving so when we got to the hotel, Shawn went back out and got us food but that's all we did.  Friday morning we got up and went out to explore what all we could find around our hotel.  We made the rounds in a few stores and had a yummy lunch at Sweet Tomato and Savannah slept through it which was great!  Friday around 4-5 Shawn's parents arrived in Atlanta to enjoy the rest of the weekend with us.  It had been a little over a year since they have seen Savannah and it was really great that they made the 10 hour drive to be with us.  Friday evening we went out to dinner at On The Border.  It has been at least a year if not more that I have gotten to eat at an OTB!  It was really good.
Saturday morning we all got up at the crack of dawn and headed to the Georgia Aquarium.  Shawn purchased our tickets on line and we had a entrance time of 8am.  I was less than thrilled with having to get up that early but man am I glad we did.  We got through the first 3 of 5 exhibits with virtually no crowd.  By the time we got to the 4th and 5th it had gotten pretty crazy.  The Aquarium was just as amazing as I remembered it.  Savannah was just in awe with everything.  She really enjoyed seeing all the "fishes, fishes, fishes!"  It was really a lot of fun!
Sunday morning we got up early and went to Ikea!  Once again it was good we went early because after a little while it got really crowded as well.  I enjoyed making a shopping list of things I would like to have and actually picked up a few things while we were there.  I love Ikea..you just can't beat the prices!  That evening Shawn and I were to go on a date and leave Savannah with the grandparents, but in a strange turn of events I happen to get a message from one of Shawn's friends from Dallas and it turned out he was in Atlanta also.  So we invited him to dinner with us.  It was really cool to get to see him and hear what all he has been up to.
Monday we all had to say our goodbyes.  Shawn's parents headed out a little before 10am and we headed out around noon.  We had to make a little pit stop by the outlets because I had to return some clothes that didn't fit Savannah, and pick up a few more things from GAP.  =)
Over all it was a great trip and it as great to get away for a few days and visit with family.
