More Projects....

Since Scarlett was born I don't get to get into my craft room nearly as much as I would like, but I still manage to squeeze in time here and there! Here are the projects I have done over the last 2 months!

This was my last completed project! I recently got a ruffler foot for my singer and it is the neatest little contraption! Here is a modified version of the a-line dresses I made, but with a ruffle!

I LOVE these next two designs! They are for my nieces! I originally made them the bags as totes they could take to the pool, then decided they needed matching tee's!

Here are two zipper clutches I made for myself to keep in the bag on the back of my wheelchair. The bigger of the two fits 4 (now size 2) diapers perfectly! The smaller one I keep extra keys, chap stick, tissues, a pen, and extra hair tie or two!

Who doesn't love a good tote?? This I made for my SIL! It's perfect for trips to the library, pool, or whatever! It's great because it has a zipper on the top!

LOVE the flip flop applique for the summer time! This is a shirt I made for Savannah!

Cute little art bag I made for Savannah's friend's big sister. I had given a similar bag to her friend for a birthday present, along with a crayon roll, bows, bow holder, and an embroidered shirt, and her sister loved the bag and crayon roll so much she wanted one too! She requested it be pink and black and I love the way it came out!

The next few pics are a little set (minus a 30x30 blanket) I put together for my friend Mari's new baby, Sarah. And of course I had to make some stuff for her big sister, Ally! (formally known as Baby Ally!) =)

For Andrew....

For those of you who don't know, my nephew, Andrew (about to turn 6!), is blind and has been from birth (Born at 23 weeks). I was playing on the internet and ran across the braille font for embroidery. I thought it was kinda neat and mentioned it to his mom (My SIL, Kelly) and she thought it was pretty cool too. Well, since Andrew is in the process of learning braille and learning to use a braille writer we thought how cool would it be to make him some embroidered shirts with braille! Most of his clothes are screen print and, being blind, he can't distinguish the difference in the shirts. Having something that he could go to his drawer and feel would give him some freedom to pick out, and KNOW what is on his shirt he is wearing! So here are the 3 I have done so far.

And I have a fabric buying addiction....

I would say it's almost border line crazy, but as of now, I think I have fully crossed over into crazy! This is just one shopping trip to Hobby Lobby. There are just so many cute, fun fabrics that I just NEED!!!

I can't wait to start making the skirts, shirts, and dresses for my girls for this summer!

Second time around...

Pretty much during the first few weeks of Savannah's life, I was convinced I did not want any more kids! Savannah was such a handful and "high maintenance" baby that I couldn't even imagine doing that a second time around. I distinctly remember multiple conversations with my Sister In Law that were exactly the same: Me calling her freaking out because Savannah was crying and I didn't know why and kept telling her that I am NEVER having anymore kids, and she always said the same thing: you say that now, but just wait, you will want another one, and the second one is so much easier! Well, she was right!!

There are so many differences the second time around! Mostly for the better!

* Scarlett, from almost the day she came home has been a GREAT sleeper at night! There has not been one night, meaning after we have already gone to bed, that she has woken up crying. She grunts to let me know she is hungry, eats, then goes back to sleep. For the first few weeks she only woke up once, if at all during the night, but now she is waking up twice about 4 hours apart. This is nothing compared to how much we were up with Savannah!

* Scarlett's poor diaper has pushed capacity for being wet a few times! With Savannah at any little hit that she was wet she got changed right away, but this time I find myself going longer in between changes. Pampers diapers are AWESOME!! lol!

* With Savannah, any little grunt or whimper one of us was right there trying to soothe her and find out what was wrong, this time, not so much. I am a lot more comfortable letting Scarlett fuss for a few while I finish up with what I am in the middle of doing and then going to tend to her.

* From day one, Savannah did not sleep in our bed. I had a pack and play next to the bed that she slept in, this time around, Scarlett has her own little pillow right between Shawn and I and, I have to say, I love having her in bed with us! I honestly think that's why she sleeps better, but who knows.

* Bathing a baby the second time around is SO MUCH EASIER!! With Savannah I was so careful and cautious while bathing her afraid I was going to hurt her or something, this time it's like, plop her down, lather her up, rinse her off, done! It actually is a lot quicker bath because I am not so afraid I am going to break her!

* Scarlett can sleep through just about anything! With Savannah I was told to keep the noise level the same when she sleep so she gets use to it, well with it just being Shawn and I, there wasn't really a noise level to speak of so Savannah woke up easier to loud noises. Well this time with my little wild child toddler running around screeching and whatnot, Scarlett is use to noise and doesn't wake up so easily!

* Nursing is SO much easier this time around! I already knew what to expect so it's not such a shock to me that I am doing it every 1.5 to 2 hours during the day and I actually enjoy the bonding time. I also got a pump this time around so that has helped SO much!

* The only negative I can think of isn't even that bad, it's just the waking up in the middle of the night is annoying. I love my sleep, I mean really love it. I am a tad bit grumpy if I get woken up too early so both my husband and oldest know not to wake me up unless need be. So waking up twice a night is given me very broken sleep and I am finding myself very tired around 6pm and that's about the time Savannah get's her second wind and want so run around like a crazy woman! It's a bit crazy in the evenings sometimes, but honestly, I wouldn't change it!

I am pretty certain that my little family is complete and there are no more babies in our future. I don't think I could be any happier than I am right now with my two girls!
